Taking My Daughter To The Domes In Washington DC

My daughter loves flowers. For a long time, my husband and I thought about taking her to a floral garden in Washington DC that is known as The Domes. We weren’t sure how she would respond to this, and didn’t want to take her if she wouldn’t have a good time. After watching the Rose Bowl parade and seeing how much she loved the flowers there, we felt now would be as good a time as any to take her to the floral garden downtown, and let her see everything up close. I was confident she would find it enjoyable.

My husband and I thought we would take her on the weekend. Normally I don’t like to go on the weekend because it’s always busy then, but our own lives are hectic, and its difficult to get anything done. We got started by getting our daughter up early enough, and getting everyone fed, dressed, and ready. It’s about an hour to get from our house to the Domes down in Washington DC. We don’t mind the travel time, but it’s a well-known fact the earlier in the day you leave, the better your experience is when driving downtown. Along the way, we stopped to get something to eat. After eating, we continued to drive on. Finally, the Domes came into focus. Our daughter had never seen the three large shaped dome globes, and she was excited by what she saw.

We went inside and paid our admission. I don’t think the price is high at all, and everything goes toward the plants and the animals that live inside the Domes. There is a show dome, n arid dome with desert plants, and even a tropical dome. We started off by going into the show dome, since that one was updated to include a miniature train show. All throughout the dome, there was little trains that were running among plants. There was even a fountain, which my daughter was fascinated by. We decided we would walk through again, and wanted to go visit the arid dome next. I love coming here because there is a beautiful bird of paradise plant that blooms during a certain time of year.

When we went, I was so pleased to find out that it was getting ready to bloom. I took several pictures of it. I knew it would be beautiful when it opened all the way. Finally, we went to the tropical dome. There were so many beautiful flowers there, and it was very warm. I pointed out the different plants and trees to my daughter, but she was more enthralled by the fact that there were little animals and even birds flying everywhere. It was beautiful to see everything, and I was happy she was enjoying herself. I told my husband we needed to come back down to Washington DC and see the Domes again when they had their newest exhibit open for the new season.
