6 Romantic Things To Do In Washington DC

Washington DC is usually associated with power and politics in a national and international scale. After all, this is the capital of the United States of America. Before I visited this city mid last year, I always thought it was all boring and super upper class. I didn’t expect to find any party spots in the city except those exclusive clubs where all kinds of awful political deals are made. I was in for quite a surprise. A little background: I visited DC at the insistence of my girlfriend who actually hails from the city. She promised me that it was one of the most romantic cities in the world and I just went along to prove her wrong. But to tell you the truth, Washington DC has some of the most romantic places in the United States. These are some of the romantic things that we did during our Washington DC visit.

Take A Riverboat Cruise

There is nothing as romantic as taking a riverboat cruise on the Potomac River. The cruise is even more romantic if you take it at night. We took a night riverboat cruise to see the city from the River and it was wonderful. We were served scrumptious meals. The view was incredible. We managed to see all those iconic monuments and memorials as we sailed graceful along the shore.

Seat Back And Relax At The National Mall

The National Mall is the best place to sit back and soak in the beauty and majesty of Washington DC. You will be in the vicinity of all those famous memorials and monuments. We spent enough time just sitting there and enjoying everything great about this amazing city.

Enjoy A Show At The John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts

A romantic evening is not complete without a romantic show. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is the place to be if you want to experience the cultural side of DC. In our 2-week stay in the city, we enjoyed many delightful shows in this facility. It was the best way to end a romantic day.

Take A Stroll Through The Historic Georgetown

Georgetown is an historic neighborhood by the waterfront. There is nothing as romantic and enjoyable as taking a stroll through this neighborhood. The waterfront breeze is on your face as you walk on the cobblestone sidewalks and admire all those beautiful homes. It’s also a great place to shop.

Enjoy Nature At The National Arboretum

As you can tell from most of my romantic experiences above, I am an outdoor person. I love nature and I love experiencing the natural world. That is why I had the most pleasant experience in DC when we visited the National Arboretum. The National Arboretum is a botanical treasure brimming with all kinds of beautiful trees and flowers. The gardens are immaculate and rich. And the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum is awesome. It’s a very romantic place to spend your day with a loved one.

Enjoy A Romantic Meal In A Fine Restaurant

DC has some of the finest restaurants in the country. I had already heard of its Ritz-Carlton but I didn’t expect it to be so chic. My girlfriend took me some other fantastic dining spots like the Plumbe, Fig & Olive, Co Co. Sala, Chez Billy Sud etc where we had great food and excellent wine.
